A little less than a year ago, we launched Archive Games, a utility to easily browse, download, and update games. Since then, we've doubled the size of our games library (okay, from 3 to 6 :P), created a Linux version, added support for Vista, and seamlessly patched in new functionality like download resume support.

Now, a year and one week after my first blog revealing Archive Games, I'm excited to reveal Archive Games 2.0! What's new? Well, the biggest improvement is UI. As you will see below, the AG website is now integrated into the main client!

As you can imagine, this will allow us to present a much more fluid user experience that easier and more fun to use, and hopefully attract new users and developers!

Simon the Sorceror... 4?

Just caught this one via one of Simon Carless's GameSetLinkDump articles: Simon the Sorceror 4 is out, and it sounds pretty fun.

For those unfamiliar, Simon the Sorceror hails from the heyday of LucasArts adventure games (though not a LucasArts game itself), back when SCUMM was king and puzzles were obtuse. It's rather surprising that development has continued on this cult niche series, but it's refreshing to find that the case.

There aren't a lot of details on its release, like is there a North American release (it was made in Germany apparently), if it's already out or just about to, etc. If this is legit and available in the US, though, I think I'm going to have to pick it up. Maybe even subsequently post a review.

Edit: According to the wikipedia entry, a North American release is TBA 2008. They'd better hurry up... only have less than 2 months to go.

Happy Adventuring!

While not in common home usage today, it is still used for low-power systems in specialized cases, such as aviation.

To make this worse, apparently they have no posted rules defining what is ban-worthy. Seems a little harsh...

UPDATE: This turns out to be untrue, as EA has revoked this statement.
