Light of Altair is a sci-fi colony building game with a deep plot. Grow colonies from landing pod to metropolis, while sending off new spaceships to expand your territory to other worlds. You are not alone in space, 8 factions from different parts of the world are all following their own agendas in the solar system; diplomacy and orbital-combat are essential to learn.

And as a special bonus, if you pre-order now you will receive the full game at a 25% discount!

Get ready to load your weapons and open fire again with Open Fire Gold, an arcade-like military shoot-'em-up, that will have you uncontrollably wasting hours of precious time. Featuring two different game modes: Stop the Huns and Open Fire Classic, Open Fire Gold shoves you in the shoes of a lone operative armed to the teeth with explosive rocket rounds and a handful of land mines! Unload your weapon and riddle your screen with pockmarked scars of battle, because it's time to play Open Fire Gold!

The game is available for a mere $3.99 and includes a full featured demo.

Archive is Seven... CUPCAKES!

The Archive is now seven years old!

Last year, I promised ' BIG stuff ' for The Archive in the coming year. Well, amazingly enough, we did actually accomplish quite a lot in the past year! So let's do a quick recap of our major milestones:

  • Our biggest milestone has been in major improvements to Archive Games: we launched a 2.0 client on Windows with a vastly improved user interface, implemented e-commerce for purchaseable games, and brought on a whole ton of games - tripling the games catalog and bringing in many new partners. In the coming year, I hope to bring in many more indie developers and gamers alike!
  • We launched the private beta of SimWorld V5
  • We launched a public bug tracker
  • We launched and tuned Archive Tripwire, an automated spam management system for the forums.
  • We launched (and later shut down ) a gmod server
  • We shutdown (and later brought back up ) the TFC server
  • We even got some new Archive Fiction!
  • New Devjournal users joined us like Nobu and Akashik (who also made some awesome wallpapers this year)
  • Launched Donation System 3.0
  • Rebooted the newsletter and started doing periodic updates
  • EATV was used to test new Firefox functionality, got graphing abilities, and was used to test out streaming technology by an unnamed major ISP across their network

Now, enjoy your free septuannual cupcake in a cup - just request one in this thread and I'll send you one!

Archive Games Website Improvements

I've recently made a couple minor improvements to the Archive Games website! First up, the main page now shows a couple featured games to choose from initially. Second, game pages now show their banner at the top of the page if they have one. Enjoy! Feedback is welcome here.
